Linda Frost incorporates images of dolls with wildlife based on memories of her childhood in rural Pennsylvania. With the usage of digitally assembled photographic images, these motives of nature suggest the strong influence of Surrealism on Frost’s art. Self, 2006 and Siren of the Sea, 2007 - both from her Doll Dreams series –represent certain stages of childhood that impacted a child’s growth into an adult. According to the artist, the imagery of dolls is used as a symbol for the autobiographical stories reflecting memories of childhood and adolescence. The Doll Dreamseries is an expression of Frost’s ‘desire to revisit the childhood and rekindle experiences, lucid memories and situations.
Frost has exhibited throughout the USA including International Show at the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts in 2006, Echoes: Women Inspired by Nature at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, Santa Ana, CA and National Juried Exhibition at the Berkeley Art Center, CA in 2007.
