From the ground breaking Super-realist paintings in the 1960s, the Neo Expressionist works in the 1980s to the recent Photo-realist works, Malcolm Morely has constantly explored various styles and media.

Many reoccurring themes of Morley’s art are based on his childhood memories, notably, the Blitz. The Battle of Britain, 2001 depicting card-kit aero plane models from World War I and II is not a mere depiction of toys of childhood. The artist’s own house was destroyed by the Luftwaffe raid on London which damaged his balsa wood ship model as well.

Morley was the inaugural recipient of the Turner Prize in 1984. His works are in the public collections of the Tate Gallery, London, UK, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC and the Museum of Modern Art, New York, USA .
