Peter Buchmans artistic inspiration comes from the American lexicon of past and present cultural imagery. Mixing visual idioms has been the core of the artists practice. By juxtaposing old images with the new, Buchman creates a kind of souvenir assemblage.
His suitcase series like Rematch,1994, Negro Leagues Case, 1996 are miniature dioramas of boxing rings and baseball fields. These objects become a menagerie of collective memories. Similarly, Circus Wheel, 2007 explores this aspect of object evoking nostalgia and memory.
Buchman has exhibited his works throughout the USA including New York and Boston, MA.
