Using various materials including metal, plaster, wool and straw, Steven Dryden creates sculptural works that feature themes of existentialism such as being, existence and nothingness. For example, Undo, 2006 deals with the fragility and mystery of human existence.

Dryden’s sculptures are often compared to that of Camille Claudel, a French sculptor whose works convey the beauty of human forms with the nuance of sorrow and futility of life. Like Claudel’s work, Dryden’s sculpture always reminds the beholder of the physical characteristics of his works, yet at the same time, it transcends the material limit, evoking the sense of time.

Although still a student in art school, Dryden has already received accolades from collectors and critics alike.
