Tim Liddy meticulously reconstructs vintage board game boxes. He paints on copper or steel, constructed in the exact proportions of the original game boxes; then painstakingly renders the worn out corners, any remnant tape and even stains on the surface.
Defying convention, Liddy’s objects are neither ‘readymade’ nor ‘found’. They are ‘false objects’ reconstructed in the traditional sense of tromp l’oeil, deliberately blurring the boundary between fine art and popular culture.
Liddy’s works have been exhibited in numerous art fairs and galleries including Art Chicago 2007, Miami/Basel International Art Fair 2006 and OK Harris Gallery in New York. Center of Contemporary Arts, St. Louis, MO presented the show Tim Liddy: A Ten Year Survey in 2004.
